All Star Day 2012 - Showcase Game Report


SHOWCASE TEAM BLUE vs. TEAM WHITE
Final Score:  1:4

Players of the Game Awards:
Team White - Jessica Kaminsky, FRC Centurions
Team Blue - Alex Anderson, West Kildonan Wolverines

The Showcase game was fast paced with end to end action and many scoring chances by both teams along with superb goaltending by all 6 goalies, each of whom played a period between the pipes.

The opening period saw both teams with 5 shots on net, and Team White leading 1-0 on a goal by FRC Centurions’ Jessica Kaminsky assisted by Natasha Esquivel, Dakota Lancers.

In the second period, both teams picked up steam. Team White extended their lead when Devin McFadyen from the Kevin Clippers scored early in the period.  Jesse Hilton, Oak Park Raiders, picked up the single assist on the goal.  Team Blue cut the lead in half at the 11:15 mark when CJS Olympiens’ Nicole Berke scored for Team Blue.  Helpers on the goal were Kristy Van Aert, Lord Selkirk Royals and Megan Porath,St.Mary’s Flames.  Team White held on for the rest of the period and headed to the dressing room with the slim one goal lead.  Shots after two periods were 16-11 for Team Blue.

The third period saw Team White score two more goals, with Kaminsky getting her second goal of the game and her line mate MichelleAndersonscoring the final goal for Team White.

Kaminsky assisted onAnderson’s goal along with McFadyen.  Breanne Yozenko, Sturgeon Heights Huskies  and Ashleigh Watson, Kelvin Clippers assisted on Kaminsky’s second goal.   The final shots on goal were 24-17 for Team Blue.

Goaltending duties for Team Blue were shared by Kristen Hunt, West Kildonan Wolverines, who faced 5 shots allowing one goal; Courtney Comrie, Westwood Warriors, who faced 11 shots turning away 10; and Katelyn Sass from John Taylor, who made 6 saves on 8 shots.

Team Blue had Brooke Morin St. Norbert Celtics start the game, facing 5 shots and shutting out Team Blue. Sydne Valiquette, River East Kodiaks saw 6 more shots with one goal; and Dakota Lancers’ tender, Kelsey Bowerman turned away all shots making 7 saves to help preserve the 4-1 win for Team White.
