About Us - Mission

The MWHSHL delivers successful competitive and developmental hockey programs for the benefit and enjoyment of our players - and they love it!

We are Manitoba's only women’s high school hockey league, and our mission is to lead, develop and deliver the best possible hockey experience for the benefit and enjoyment of female high school students in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. We have a proud history and an exciting future. Our vision is to become the hockey league of choice for female high school aged hockey players in the province.

We are dedicated to these values:

  • promoting the athletic arena as a classroom with moral and educational obligations at all times by players, coaches, officials and fans.
  • promoting high standards of courtesy, respect, fair play and sportsmanship for all stakeholders.
  • promoting and nurturing the participation of female high school students in the League.
  • ensuring a well-managed organization through stewardship, financial stability, public accountability and continuous improvement.
  • these best practices:
    • Player Centered - Program development is focused on the talents, skills and interests of the players, and structured for their benefit and enjoyment.
    • Education Centered - Through quality coaching and officiating in a variety of on and off ice activities, players develop both athletic and life skills including self-definition, goal setting, confidence, character, team work, and a healthier lifestyle.
    • Care Centered - By providing an environment where players fell safe and build trusting relationships with peers and adults, we foster high standards of courtesy, respect, fair play and sportsmanship.
