Ending February 24, 2023 (Playoff Quarter Finals)

Feb. 28, 2023

Congratulations to the Playoff Quarter Finals' Players of the Week ending February 24, 2023. You can also view the Players of the Week Archives

Division 1: Sara Johnstone, SMA Flames, Forward #7

Captain Sara and the Flames are off to a great start in the playoffs. She was strong on face offs in both ends and scored a goal in their 5-1 win in game one of their series against the VMC Trojans on Tuesday. In game two on Thursday, Sara again played her heart out but the Trojans prevailed scoring the winner in over time. In a barn burner game three on Friday, Sara was again dominate on the forecheck and below the goal line all game long and scored the winning goal in the Flames 2-1 victory as she showed her ability to win puck battles.

Division 2: Jaicee Huberdeau, Lorette Scorpions, Forward #17

The battle between the Huskies and the Scorpions went to over time in the third game of a three game series with Jaicee playing a significant role. The Huskies won the first game on Tuesday 3-1, holding Jaicee off the scoreboard but in game two on Wednesday she came back hungrier than ever. Using her hockey sense, skill, incredible skating speed and play making ability she could not be stopped, scoring 2 goals in the Scorpions 3-2 win. Game three on Friday saw her once again dominate as she scored the first goal to open for Lorette and then scored the BIG one, the winning goal in overtime to win the series.

Division 3: Gabriela Lerat, Westwood Warriors, Forward #6

Gabriela demonstrates all the great qualities you look for in a captain such as leadership skills, on ice skills and a positive attitude. In game one on Tuesday, she dominated throughout the game but was unable to crack the scoreboard in a 2-0 loss to the Springfield Sabres. Game two on Wednesday was a different story as Gabriela was very active in the offensive and defensive zones resulting in her scoring 2 goals in their 5-1 win. In game three on Friday, she once again showed her leadership qualities by scoring the 3rd goal in their very exciting 4-3 overtime win to win the series.
