Season Start - Postponed

Sep. 30, 2020

Update: October 2, 2020 - The WWHSHL has decided not to return to play this fall.  The Executive is reviewing options to return to play in 2021 including a shortened season. Stay safe.

***

September 2020

During this pandemic, the safety of the WWHSHL players, coaches, officials and fans is our top priority. We will open our the 2020-21 Season provided it is safe to do so. The WWHSHL will be adopting the Hockey MB Return to Play Policy for League operations during the season. This means that we will start, pause and/or stop the 2020-21 season based on direction taken by Hockey MB and MHSSA.  Province of Manitoba Sports Guidelines can be found here: https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/restoring/sports-guidelines.html

We are currently planning for a season start on November 1, 2020, with these additional guidelines:

  • There will be no sanctioned Tournaments or Exhibition Games including WWHSHL Pre-Season Division Alignment Tournament games.
  • There will be no fans allowed at any games for the first half of the season, or until advised otherwise.

Further information will be made available as known.  Thank you for your patience - and - keep safe!

Winnipeg Restricted (ORANGE)

On Monday, September 28, Manitoba's public health officials elevated the  #RestartMB Pandemic Response System level for the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region to Restricted (orange). This restricts public gatherings to 10 people, indoors and out. The Province has advised MHSAA that the maximum occupancy of 10 people indoors and outdoors and the wearing of masks does not apply to those actively engaging in athletic or fitness activities.   League and Team Return to Play protocols with emphasis on the fundamentals to help prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19 will be in effect for any and all League sanctioned practices, games and activities.
